Mexichem, a leading chemical and petrochemical company based in Mexico City,
with two U.S. production plants and operations throughout Latin America and worldwide
exports, is using several LEDtronics high-power LED bulbs outside its factory in a Guadalajara industrial park to illuminate their main street entrance,
eliminating visibility and security issues.
The 27-watt LED30HM-600-TPW-001 solid-state bulbs have replaced 150-watt acorn-style,
post-top metal halide street lamps that failed so often that the street was
usually left in the dark. The coverage area is about 85 meters long by 12 meters
wide.
Not only will the plant enjoy major energy savings with the LEDtronics bulbs
but the longer life (more than 50,000 hours) will reduce maintenance and replacement
costs for over 5 years of continuous operation, reduce light pollution and
enhance security through unfailing true-white visibility.
With a 50-year history and more than 10,000 employees, Mexichem is the largest
producer of fluorhydric acid in the Americas and the largest Mexican producer
of vinyl resins and compounds. Its production of raw materials, derivates and
plasticized products supply varied vertical industries in construction and
civil infrastructure, water supply, energy, transportation, communications
and health care, among others.
The company is Clean Industry certified (a program similar to that of Responsible
Care in the U.S.) and also ISO-14001 certified.
