TORRANCE, CA — February 26, 2000 — LEDtronics announces the availability of its new CardLED™, an innovative compact LED - PC card assembly that
fulfills the demand for supplying data traffic information while meeting
the challenges posed by today’s space-limited networking and telecommunication
environments. Select from two CardLED models: (1) PCB-1370 that has 16 LEDs
configured in two rows of eight, and measures .61 x 1.75 inches; and (2)
PCB-1344 that features 32 LEDs configured in four rows of eight, and measures
1.029 x 1.75 inches.
Additionally, CardLED has two 5mm bi-color LEDs mounted
on the PC board. Compact and full featured, CardLED is the ideal LED
package for designers, engineers and manufacturers of today’s high-end telecommunications
and networking products, such as network hubs, routers, bridges and frame-relays
that require device port status indicators and have only limited space within
the enclosure. CardLED is available with LEDtronics unique LongLED 3mm LEDs.
LongLEDs are single-piece, extended body LEDs that eliminate the need to
add plastic spacers to support the LEDs. CardLED can be ordered with either
single-colored LEDs or with bi-color LongLED LEDs.
CardLED assemblies may be configured with LEDs of a single color or with
LEDs of several colors for qualified customers. Standard colors available
are Red, Yellow and Green, but custom colors (Orange, Pure Green, Blue and
White) that may better complement your design may be ordered. LED lenses
can be colored, milky white or clear. Depending on the color of the LED,
brightness ranges from 10 – 18 typical mcd at 20 mAs. For each LED
in the package, there is a single common contact point for negative (cathode)
and one contact point for each LED positive (anode) which comes with either
a 40-leaded dip socket or edge-card connector.
Solid-state design renders CardLED impervious to electrical and mechanical
shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. CardLED
is excellent choice for a wide range of display, fault or status indicators
that require easy-to-read measurements such as readouts that indicate data
traffic port conditions. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours
(11 years), CardLED operates reliably year after year.
