TORRANCE, CA — April 10, 2003 — Furthering its commitment to providing energy efficient, environmentally safe
and sustainable lighting, LEDtronics introduces the Series SLR001 and
SLR002 Solar-Powered LED 12-Volt Lighting Systems. These systems include everything
necessary to convert sunlight to the electricity needed for indoor
lighting: Solar panels, 12-foot 16-gauge cables, 3 amp 20-hour batteries,
voltage regulators, terminal blocks, 3 white LED lamps, and light sockets.
The top-of-the-line SLR001 System features a 10Watt solar panel and
three 12/14V white 24-LED cluster lamps. A fully-charged battery powers
the high-intensity 24-LED cluster lamps for approximately 8 hours. The
24-LED lamps throw light in a 40( spread and emit 36 end lumens per bulb.
The lower cost SLR002 System has a 5Watt solar panel and three 12/14V
white 9-LED cluster lamps that produce 14 end lumens per lamp. The SLR002
drives the lamps for 16 hours, but with less light output when compared
to the SLR001.
These utility-independent systems are excellent for emergency lighting
in the event of a power failure, for applications that lack access to
conventional power, and for off-grid sites such as remote cabins and offshore
oil platforms. LED lamps with their low power requirements and high-intensity
light output enable the use of smaller and less expensive solar power
components than those required by incandescent lamps. Additionally, due
to their low power draws, LED lamps are ideal for use with alternative
energy systems like solar and wind power. Using LED lamps with renewable
energy sources helps to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels. LEDs directional
light output promotes compliance with the Dark Skies initiative, a worldwide
movement to reduce light pollution, by focusing the light on the task
at hand.
Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical
shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With
an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LEDs operate reliably
year-after-year and are virtually maintenance free. The SLR Series eliminate
the hazards (e.g., fires, burns, fumes, spills and explosions), trouble
and fuss of using propane or kerosene fueled lighting. Under sunny skies
and moderate latitudes, the solar panel recharges a dead battery in 12
hours. The rechargeable battery not only saves the operator hundreds of
dollars, but also lessens the environmental impact associated with one-time-use
batteries.
Founded in 1983, LEDtronics leads where others only follow when it comes
to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to meet
the world’s constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product
line encompasses an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based
LED Lamps, low-cost snap-in and relampable Panel Mount LED Lamps and holders,
high intensity sunlight-visible Discrete LEDs, PCB LEDs circuit board
status indicators, surface mount diodes SMT LEDs, full-spectrum rainbow
RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.
The Series SLR001 is priced at $365 per unit. The price for the Series
SLR002 is $240. Ask for datasheet #153. For additional information,
