TORRANCE, CA — December 30, 2002 — LEDtronics® announces its new line of Ultraviolet Discrete LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) that enable
sophisticated chemical analysis, forensic investigation, quality assurance,
document authentication, etc. . . .. These LEDs incorporate advanced semi-conductor
compounds to produce ultraviolet emissions in the wavelengths of 370nm,
390nm, 395nm, 400nm, 405nm and 410nm. These T13/4 (5mm) LEDs come with sturdy
leads for steadfastness in wire-wrap and through-hole applications. UV LEDs
are available in narrow and wide emission angles. Low power consumption,
solid state design and compact size enable UV LEDs to be incorporated into
portable devices for crime scene investigators, forensic specialists, public
health officials that need to identify bodily fluids, contaminants, chemicals,
and vermin infestations.
Ultraviolet LEDs are ideal light sources for immigration agencies, nightclubs
or amusement parks that need to control admission, identify forgeries and
detect unauthorized entry. UV LEDs may also be used medical analysis, gems
appraisal, pharmaceutical and biological equipment and calibration systems.
UV LEDs can also be used for curing polymers, adhesives and inks. Mechanics,
line inspectors and plumbers will like being able to see leaks. Potential
applications for the UV LEDs include solid-state white light conversion,
high-density optical storage, advanced sensors for satellites, planes and
ground stations. Solid-state design renders Ultraviolet LEDs impervious
to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental
extremes. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), UV
LEDs operate reliably year after year.
Founded in 1983, LEDtronics® leads where others only follow when it
comes to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to
meet the world's constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product
line encompasses an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based
LEDs, low-cost snap-in and relampable Panel Mount LEDs, high intensity sunlight-visible
Discrete LEDs, PCB LED circuit board status indicators, surface mount diodes
SMT LEDs, full-spectrum rainbow RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.
Prices for Ultraviolet Discrete LEDs range from $0.17 - $2.04 each in quantities
of 1,000 depending on the technology. Availability is stock to 4 - 6 weeks
for special requirements. For qualified customers, samples are available
to meet your design requirements. For additional information on how to incorporate
