TORRANCE, CA — October 29, 2002 — LEDtronics® announces its latest generation of MR16-Style LED (TrackLED™) lamps. These direct
incandescent replacement bulbs combine today’s advanced Indium Gallium
Aluminum Phosphide (InGaAlP) and Silicon Carbide/Gallium Nitride (SiC/GaN)
Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology, the standard MR16 Bi-Pin base and
a light-optimizing design. With a power draw of just 0.8 Watts - 4 Watts,
an 11-year LED operating life and six sunlight-visible colors from which
to select, solid-state TrackLEDs provide architects, retail store display
creator, entertainment designers and other lighting professionals with the
means to integrate ornamental illumination into maintenance-intensive applications.
Standard TrackLED lamps come in 12/14 volts DC. Custom voltages - 48 volts
DC, 120 Volts AC and 240 Volts AC -- may be ordered with factory approval.
TrackLEDs are designed to perform well in systems subjected to voltage dips
or surges. Integrated current-limited resistors and polarity-protection
diodes assure that no circuit modifications are required. TrackLEDs are
available in 12, 24 and 42, 5mm discrete LED configurations. Individual
high-intensity LEDs incorporate optical grade epoxy to produce bright vivid
illumination. Colors available are Green (10,000mcd), White (6,000mcd),
Blue (3,000mcd), Yellow (7,000mcd), Red (3,500mcd), and Orange (6,500mcd)
as well as derivations of those colors. Additionally, with the use of multiple
LEDs, an LED cluster lamp continues to provide light even if one or more
emitters fail unlike when the filament breaks in an incandescent bulb.
Colored lenses or filters are not needed since LEDs emit colored light that
is determined by the composition of the semiconductor material comprising
the diode. Intensity and color remain stable over lamp’s lifetime.
TrackLED is an energy-efficient light source, saving 80% - 90% of energy
costs compared to incandescent lamps. Cost savings are substantial because
TrackLED lamps use very little energy and are virtually maintenance free.
Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical
shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With an
average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LEDs operate reliably
year after year and are appropriate for many applications. TrackLED is an
ideal solution for decorative and night task lighting applications including
large message panels, retail store displays, casino accent lights, theme
and amusement parks, stage lighting, carnivals, theaters and ornamental
lighting.
